Appearance
Chouchou is a elfin white go after with thin ears, beady black eyes, and a short, brushing-the like tail. During the Buggy Pirates' occupation of Orange Town, he bore several wounds.

Personality
Above all, Chouchou is undyingly loyal to the memory of his late master Hocker, having dedicated the rest of his living to guarding Hocker's pet-intellectual nourishment shop. Though generally stoic and unmoving, he will not waffle to attack anyone who mistreats him Beaver State threatens the shop.
In rare cases, he buttocks poke out his loyalty to newcomers—as helium did for the Straw Hat Pirates, helping them escape a misguided ring of townsfolk after Imp D. Luffy avenged his shop's destruction.

When prodded aside the curious new pirate, Chouchou bit Luffy, then spitefully ate the cage's only key. Fortunately, Moolah intervened soon enough to prevent any serious damage, and fed Chouchou while explaining his narrative to the Straw Hats.
Chouchou tested no friendlier to the Buggy Pirates' Prime Mate Mohji, immediately answering his supposed "beast-taming" skills with another bite. Angry by this, as well as Luffy's generic defiance, Mohji and his lion Richie attacked.[12] Though Chouchou fought with each his effort, He was easily subjugated, and could only watch as the shop was raided, then burned to the terra firma.[13]

"Chouchou" is a French full term translating roughly to "pet", though it is more than often used as a condition of endearment (or mockery) for humans rather than animals.
Due to the fickleness of romanizing katakana, some new fan translations render his name as "Shushu". Nonetheless, the proper spelling was inveterate in Volume 9's SBS[6] and on the cover page of Chapter 619,[8] and is victimised in complete professional English translations.
